Care After Endodontic Therapy
Very often, teeth become quite sore after treatment due to bruising of the socket. The following advice will help:
- Hot saline rinses — very frequently.
- Place an ice bag on the side of the face, alternating with rinses.
- Take pain medication such as aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, etc.
The tooth may seem loose, tender to the touch, and higher than normal. Slight swelling may occur for a few days and then disappear. All of these are common symptoms and are no cause for alarm.
Please call us if you are experiencing any discomfort that you are not able to control with over-the-counter pain medications (such as Advil, aspirin, or Tylenol) and/or if you have any significant swelling.

The tooth should be restored as soon as possible by your family dentist. A crown (cap) is often required.
